Date-code Guide
The platform evaluates “within N years” by calendar year, without counting exact months, dates or elapsed days. The examples below use the current year 2026.
Calendar-year rule
The current calendar year is year 0. “Within N years” includes the current year and the previous N calendar years, with both boundary years included.
Accordingly, in 2026, date codes from 2024, 2025 and 2026 are all described as within 2 years. Within 5 years includes date codes from 2021 through 2026.
Note: “Within 2 years” is a calendar-year range and does not mean exactly 24 months before today.
Examples for 2026
| Requirement | Accepted year range | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| Current year | 2026 | Current calendar year only |
| Within 1 year | 2025–2026 | Current year plus 1 previous calendar year |
| Within 2 years | 2024–2026 | Current year plus 2 previous calendar years |
| Within 3 years | 2023–2026 | Current year plus 3 previous calendar years |
| Within 5 years | 2021–2026 | Current year plus 5 previous calendar years |
Identification and order confirmation
- Date code or lot information is normally read from product, reel or outer-packing labels; manufacturer coding rules apply
- If mixed years or multiple lots are acceptable, define the permitted range during order review
- State any exact year, week, single-lot or no-mixing requirement when submitting an order or BOM
- Available date codes are reviewed before contracting; the approved order and formal contract govern the final range
- Date-code age alone does not define quality grade, shelf life or application suitability
Note: Unclear labels, special manufacturer codes or week-specific requirements require separate verification and are not determined only by this year-range rule.
